Malden Manor Primary School will represent Kingston for hockey in the London Youth Games in June  Winning the recent schools’ tournament held at Surbiton Hockey Club on 12th March, the team battled their way to victory against rival primary schools.  Thames Ditton Juniors were also winners on the day, but can’t represent their neighbouring Borough so had to make do with medals and t-shirts instead.

Other schools attending the tournament were Malden Manor, Thames Ditton Juniors, Green Lane, King Athelstan, St Josephs and Robin Hood.  All have received coaching this term from Suburban Hockey.

Our “Shining Star” bursaries to join Surbiton HC next season were awarded to Susy Kim of Malden Manor and Jaden Moore of Green Lane.  Well done to them both!

The 54 children attending the event were also given a masterclass in hockey from James Tindall, GB and London Olympic player who is also a member of Surbiton HC’s 1st XI.

St Charles Borromeo success in County School Games Final

A team of enthusiastic boys from yr 6 at St Charles Borromeo school in Weybridge have won the Surrey In 2 Hockey county finals at Woking Hockey Club earlier this month.

Headmaster Stephen Holt was absolutely delighted and said “Your Suburban Hockey coaching has really helped and the standard of play from our boys was very impressive (we only conceded one goal all morning)”.

Coach Tarek Abdulla congratulated the team of boys and said they were a credit to their school and had been a great group to coach.
