Suburban Coaches in international competitions

Two of our regular Suburban Hockey coaches have starred in international tournaments during the past couple of weeks.  Sarah Haycroft scored her first goal playing for England in the women’s Champions Trophy 2014 in Argentina and Paddy Smith is currently playing as  goalkeeper for England in the men’s Champions Trophy 2014 India.  Paddy played when they beat rivals Pakistan 8-2!  The woman have finished fifth in their competition and the men are currently lying top of Pool A, having had a 1-1 draw against Belgium today.  Fingers crossed for their next matches which can be seen on sky tv.

Holy Family School win Runnymede and Spelthorne Quicksticks tournament

Holy Family RC Primary School in Addlestone are the proud winners of this year’s Runnymede and Spelthorne Quicksticks Competition!  Well done to the Holy Family team.  Head teacher, Steve Tindall, commented,

“We won the Runnymede & Spelthorne Quicksticks tournament winning every game and not conceding a goal all afternoon. For all small school who have only been playing hockey a couple of years I am absolutely thrilled with that. To take a hockey team to the Surrey Youth Games is real testament to the difference made by regular coaching so thank you to Suburban Hockey, and particularly to Ben (the coach), for all you have done”.
